Tijl Bluijs
At Liberate ’96, we’re excited to have our own in-house cinematographer, who brings a unique flair to all our projects. With a keen eye for camera choice, lenses, movement, and timing, he captures the right emotions and atmosphere in every frame. This attention to detail helps us create visuals that truly immerse the audience in the stories we want to tell. Tijl doesn’t just work for Liberate ’96; he also collaborates with other creative production houses, advertising agencies, and studios.
Tijl’s versatile style as a cinematographer is hard to capture in just one sentence. Whether he’s shooting handheld outdoors to “steal” the perfect shot, or fully in control with his technical crew in the studio, his pragmatic and solution-oriented approach allows him to seamlessly adapt to any situation. His professional attitude fosters genuine communication, where the (sometimes) hard truth is never avoided, but always approached in a constructive and collaborative way.
Tijl has been passionate about filmmaking since his high school days. He began his journey in the world of aftermovies, which laid the groundwork for his transition into commercial video production alongside Liberate ’96. From outdoor shoots to studio work, he now tackles a variety of projects, ranging from small-scale productions with tight-knit crews to larger, more complex shoots that require great teamwork across different departments, like grip and lighting. He’s involved in everything from online commercials and fashion shoots to documentaries.
He isn’t afraid to roll up his sleeves and put in the hard work, ensuring that even the smallest assignments shine. Tijl approaches each project with an open mind, working closely with the director and production team to bring out the best in every shoot.
He understands that communication, team spirit, and a bit of humor are essential, and it’s always the collective effort that makes the difference in a project.
Additionally, Tijl still finds doing a good somersault quite challenging, so if you have any tips, he would love to hear them!
